The Flexor Carpi Radialis shares its origins within the common flexor tendon.

Origin:

  • Medial Epicondyle via common flexor tendon.

Insertion:

  • Proximal end of 2nd & 3rd metacarpals on the palmar side.

Action:

  • Flexion of the wrist, radial flexion (abduction) of the wrist and assists weakly in flexion of the elbow and pronation of the forearm.

Irritation within this flexor tendon at the medial epicondyle can cause medial epicondylitis or golfers elbow.
