Muscle Details

The Flexor Carpi Ulnaris shares its origins within the common flexor tendon.

Origin:

  • Medial Epicondyle via common flexor tendon (humeral head), medial aspect of the olecranon & proximal 2/3 of the medial ulna (ulna head).

Insertion:

  • Pisiform & hamate bones and proximal end of 5th metacarpal on the palmar side.

Action:

  • Flexion of the wrist, ulna flexion (adduction) of the wrist and assists weakly in flexion of the elbow.

Irritation within this flexor tendon at the medial epicondyle can cause medial epicondylitis or golfers elbow.
